Guardians Run for Special Olympics

The Guardian’s Run, a 5 km and 10 km event, seeks to raise funds for Special Olympics athletes across the province. As part of the Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) initiative, this is the OPP’s biggest fundraising event for SOO. All funds raised are directed into community programs to provide financial support for athletes across the province for expenses such as travel, training, accommodations, meals and more. This year’s run will take place on October 20, 2024, at OPP General Headquarters (GHQ) in Orillia. About the Law Enforcement Torch Run The Ontario Law Enforcement Torch Run® (LETR) is the largest public awareness vehicle and grass-roots fundraiser for Special Olympics. The LETR for Special Olympics engages law enforcement worldwide championing acceptance and inclusion for people with intellectual disabilities, starting first with their own communities. Over the years the Torch Run has evolved and now encompasses a variety of innovative fundraising platforms including Polar Plunges, Tip-A-Cops, NHL Alumni Games, Torch Rides, Endurance Series and more. Since its inception, the LETR has raised more than $50 million and changed millions of attitudes.
