Business After Five

Business After Five (BA5) is a monthly networking event for members of the Orillia & District Chamber of Commerce (ODCC). Each month a different business acts as the host. BA5 is a chance for ODCC members to connect with other business owners and professionals in a casual social setting. 

BA5 takes place on the third Wednesday of each month from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. The agenda typically includes an icebreaker activity, open networking time, chamber announcements, and a short showcase or tour of the host business. Refreshments are served, and there is a draw for a door prize.

Where and when is the next BA5?

Upcoming BA5 events are advertised in the member update email that is sent to all ODCC members at the beginning of each week. BA5 events are also advertised in the calendar of events at orillia.com. 

What is the cost to attend?

There is no cost for ODCC members to attend BA5. 

Can non-members attend?

The ODCC is pleased to extend one courtesy invitation to non-member businesses who are considering joining the ODCC. Non-members must request their courtesy invitation directly through the chamber office.

Is registration required?

Registration is required. The link to register online is in the calendar of events and the member update email. 

Interested in hosting a BA5?

Hosting a BA5 is a great way to showcase your business. Typically between 50 and 100 guests attend each BA5 event, and the event is advertised both in the weekly e-blast, in the event calendar, and  on social media.

To host a BA5, a business must be an ODCC member and must be able to accommodate the following requirements:

• location has capacity for at least 60 people
• light food and beverage to be provided by host (if serving alcoholic beverages, host is responsible for compliance with any applicable legislation)
• provide a check-in table and box for business card draw
• provide one door prize

The ODCC will promote the event via the weekly e-blast (starting approximately 4 weeks ahead of the event date). Event promotional materials will include host logo and images as provided or host may opt to design their own invitation. ODCC will manage online registration and provide final numbers to host up to one week in advance.

Host bookings are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. In general, dates book 6-12 months in advance.
